Introduction
Penn Engineering is a globally recognised manufacturer of precision fastening solutions, with manufacturing and distribution operations across multiple continents. Their facility in Ireland required a complete mechanical services installation across a large-scale warehouse and production environment — a project that demanded broad capability, careful coordination across multiple trades, and the ability to deliver without compromise on a very tight programme.
Fergal Warren Mechanical was appointed to deliver the full mechanical scope, covering everything from heating and compressed air through to fire protection and building controls.

The Challenge
The scale and complexity of the project presented a significant logistical challenge from the outset. Delivering warehouse heating, compressed air networks, fire suppression, fire hose reels, fire extinguisher systems, BMS controls, heat recovery, and a toilet block installation under a single contract required careful sequencing and a team that could work efficiently across multiple workfronts simultaneously.
The programme was exceptionally tight. With a fixed completion date that could not move, there was no room for delays in procurement, installation, or coordination with other trades on site. Every element of the mechanical package had to be planned, resourced, and executed with precision from day one.
The Solution
Fergal Warren Mechanical mobilised a fully resourced team from the start of the project, with clear workfront allocations and a programme that was monitored and managed throughout. Procurement was front-loaded to ensure all materials and equipment were on site when needed, eliminating the risk of supply chain delays impacting progress.
The warehouse heating and heat recovery systems were designed and installed to maximise energy efficiency across the large floor plate. The compressed air network was sized and installed to deliver reliable, clean air at every point of use throughout the production areas. Fire suppression, fire hose reels, and fire extinguisher installations were completed in coordination with the fire protection designer and signed off to the required standards. The advanced BMS control system was installed and commissioned to bring all building services under unified monitoring and control.
The project was delivered on time, to specification, and to the standard Penn Engineering required.
